Tyrone remain hopeful on Ronan McNamee injury

Tyrone remain hopeful that Ronan McNamee could feature against Donegal on Sunday in Ballybofey.

The full-back hasn’t trained since injuring a calf muscle in the Super 8 defeat to Dublin in Omagh on Saturday-week last.

Tyrone are already without veteran defender Cathal McCarron, who suffered a season-ending injury in the Red Hands’ win over Roscommon at Croke Park.

Tyrone have not given up hope on McNamee’s participation just yet.

“Ronan’s injury is significant enough, in that he didn’t train there at the weekend, and he’s working on it, the physios are working on trying to reduce the swelling on the calf muscle,” Tyrone manager Mickey Harte said.

“It’s an impact injury. It’s a calf muscle and there is fluid on it. It’s very painful. We are hopeful that with time, and with the right intervention, it might be ready.

“If that progresses as well as it has in the last 48 hours, there’s a good chance that he will be available, but that’s not a certainty at all.”

Forward Lee Brennan could return to action for Tyrone in Sunday’s game as he has recovered from a hamstring injury. Brennan was an unused substitute against Dublin.
