Ballybofey roadworks suspended for match weekend

Up to 16,000 Gaelic football fans are expected to travel to the Twin Towns this Sunday for the meeting of Donegal and Tyrone as they compete for a place in an All-Ireland semi-final.

The current traffic works in Ballybofey have been suspended for two days to facilitate such large crowds.

This summer’s roadworks have caused major delays in recent months through Ballybofey and Stranorlar. Therefore, the council’s decision to halt works for Saturday and Sunday has been much welcomed.

Cllr Patrick McGowan Cathaoirleach of the Stranorlar Municipal District is wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable day for the match.

He has also predicted that Donegal will triumph over their neighbours Tyrone.

“The competition and rivalry between the two counties has helped to keep both teams at the top of their game and within the top 8 in the country over many years.

“Donegal I believe will prevail in Ballybofey on Sunday, Tyrone will just have to wait another time!

“Big crowds are expected in the Twin Towns and I hope everyone will have an enjoyable day and take care driving.

“The traffic works have been suspended for Saturday and Sunday in Ballybofey to facilitate the expected crowds,” said Cllr McGowan.
