Clean sheet for Conrad Logan as new cross-channel season gets underway

Conrad Logan kept a clean sheet this afternoon as Mansfield got their League 2 season off to a winning start.

Logan’s shut-out helped Mansfield to a 3-0 win over Newport County at the One Call Stadium.

Tyler Walker gave The Stags the lead in the first half with Otis Khan adding a second-half double to seal the deal.

Logan made a fine save from Jamille Matt in the first half while he also denied former Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers striker Padraig Amond.

Late in the game, Logan made a wonderful save to thwart Josh Sheehan.

Stephen McLaughlin played 65 minutes for Southend United in League 1 today but they had a home loss to Doncaster Rovers at Roots Hall.

John Marquis, Malik Wilks and Tommy Rowe had Doncaster 3-0 up before Tom Hopper and Theo Robinson netted to make a fist of it, but Donny held on.

Dale Gorman, who is just returning from injury, was not in Leyton Orient’s squad for their National League game at Salford City. However, Craig Clay’s late goal rescued a draw for the O’s at Moore Lane after Galway native Rory Gaffney opened the scoring for Salford – the club part-owned by Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.
