A local woman has scooped the Mary from Dungloe title for 2018.

Caroline O’Donnell was the toast of the town last night as she was crowned this year’s winner.

The 25-year-old from Leffin outside Dungloe was announced as the winner by Daniel O’Donnell.

Caroline is a huge sports fan and is the captain of the Dungloe Ladies GAA team and also a member of the Traigheanna rowing club.

She is past pupil of Acres N.S. in Burtonport and Rosses Community School and graduated in 2016 from Maynooth University with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Physics and Biology.

More recently, she graduated in November 2017 from the Electronic and Mechanical Engineering department of Dundalk Institute of Technology, with a Master of Science in Renewable Energy Systems. She works in Donegal Town.

She was a hugely popular winner of the title which crowned off a hugely busy week for the West Donegal town.

Many complained however that they could not follow the coverage online after Tg4’s live coverage of the event was interupted.
