Shane McGinty hits first Ballymena goal to give Sky Blues win at Ards

Shane McGinty opened his account for Ballymena United in spectacular fashion this afternoon.

The Sky Blues came from a goal down to defeat Ards 2-1 at Clandeboyne Park.

An early goal from Mark Kelly had Ards ahead, but Ballymena came good in the second half and James Knowles cracked in a fine equaliser on 56 minutes.

St Johnston man McGinty, a summer recruit from Ballinamallard United, was sent on by David Jeffrey in the 70th minute and he wasted no time in announcing his arrival.

Taking a pull-back from Ryan Mayse, McGinty brilliantly beat Sam Johnston for his first goal for Ballymena, who have taken seven points from a possible nine.
