Barrett, Toland end World Cup qualifiers with live TV derby clash in Tallaght

Amber Barrett, Tyler Toland and the Republic of Ireland women’s national team will hope to close their 2019 World Cup qualifying campaign on a winning note this evening – and the game against Northern Ireland is live on RTÉ.

The Girls in Green face Northern Ireland at Tallaght Stadium as the qualifying campaign draws to a close.

Barrett and Toland made their debuts for the Irish senior side in the corresponding game, a 2-0 win at Lurgan.

Colin Bell’s team cannot now qualify, but it has been a campaign of real positivity for Ireland, who are set to finish third in the group, behind top seeds Norway and European champions, the Netherlands.

Barrett and Toland have become key figures in Bell’s panel and the Irish boss is encouraged for the future – and the European qualifiers will soon come into sharp focus.

He said: “Their work ethic was there from the word go, they bought into that professionalism, that we are always expecting to win, that we’re as well prepared as possible.”

Kick off is at 5.30pm and coverage on RTÉ2 is from 5.15.
