The Rushe Fitness Summer Shape Up comes to an end this week and Saturday night will see one of the fitness community’s members crowned the 2018 Champion.
Members are looking forward to finding out which of them will take the title from the 2017 winner, Joanne Gallinagh, who used her prize to have the holiday of her life in New York.
This year, the Letterkenny-based Rushe Fitness partnered with Atlantic Travel to offer over €1500 of prizes to the winners of the challenges.
The winner will be announced at the Rushe Fitness Community’s annual celebration in Backstage at Century Complex on Saturday night, where members will gather to celebrate their many personal successes and achievements.
Last year, the crew took the fitness world by storm with the most original and innovative fitness incentive to hit the North West. Designed by Emmet Rushe, The Summer Shape Up encourages his members to continue their healthy lifestyles and to keep the fun in fitness over the summer.
Emmet Rushe, owner of Rushe Fitness has been delighted with this year’s challenge.
“The response has been phenomenal. So many people watched last year’s gang and decided to join in this year. Maria and I have been monitoring all activities and challenges over the summer and with almost three times more people completing the Shape Up, we have difficult decisions to make.”
“What has become so obvious to us, is that we have a special fitness community. Our members are unbelievable. They are as proud of the gym as we are.”
Emmet was left gobsmacked last weekend when, in response to the final challenge, members secretly got together to create and film short videos about their journeys.
“I had no idea that this was happening. Suddenly, my timeline was filled with incredibly put together footage of the Summer Shape Up and unbelievable messages from my members. It was truly humbling.”
“While the Summer Shape Up encourages competition and we obviously will have prizewinners, we don’t like to use the word competition. My members are not competing with anyone. They are encouraging each other, pushing themselves and each other, and creating healthy habits for themselves.”
“One of the key lessons I try to teach my members is that what other people think of you, is not your problem.” said Emmet.
“For many of them, worries and fears about how others would react to their fitness journey was an issue, but with the incredible support and encouragement from my team and from the members’ group, they have excelled. Many of them now can not believe how much they have changed, not just in physicality, but in their attitude and approach to things.”
The prizegiving will be streamed live on the Rushe Fitness Facebook page on Saturday night from 9.15pm. Good luck to all who are in the running for the top prizes and well done to everyone who took part.
If you would like to join the Rushe Fitness community, the next block of classes starts on September 17th and new members are always welcome.
