CAO Final Countdown: There’s still time to secure your place at LYIT

If you haven’t secured an offer for college in the year ahead, if you aren’t happy with the offer that you have received, or if the cost of living away from home is too much to afford then there is still time to choose a programme at Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT).

LYIT currently has 21 Level 6/7 programmes on the ‘Available Places’ CAO facility with the Round 4 application deadline approaching at 17.15hrs this Wednesday 12 September.

If you are an existing CAO applicant and are interested in this facility, then you can simply login to the “my application” facility and select “add available place” for the relevant level. There is no extra cost for existing applicants; but applicants must have the minimum entry requirements and the points to secure a place on the programme.

If you haven’t yet made a CAO application, but have completed the Leaving Certificate, or are a full QQI FET Level 5 award or are a mature candidate (<23 on 1 Jan 2018) it’s still not too late to apply. You can make a new CAO application for a fee of €45. Applicants must have the minimum entry requirements and the points to secure a place on the programme.

LYIT programmes available on the CAO ‘Available Places’ facility are listed as ‘LY’ and with the deadline approaching students interested in choosing LYIT are encouraged to act fast to secure a place.

Billy Bennett, Registrar at LYIT commented, “The ‘Available Places’ facility can be a lifeline for many students; some students may be unhappy with their current offer, whilst others might now realise that the cost of living in some of the major cities is just too expensive. We are currently offering a significant number of Level 6/7 programmes on the ‘Available Places’ facility, the majority of which go right up to a Level 8 award.

“Over the years, we have found that many students have opted for LYIT through “Available Places” as they realise that the cost of moving away is simply more than the family income can sustain. LYIT has a fantastic reputation, our programmes are highly respected and we are delighted to be able to provide a wide range of programmes through this facility.”

For the full list of LYIT programmes available on the ‘Available Places’ facility visit www.cao.ie/courses/vpl_courses.php. To secure your future, choose a programme listed ‘LY’ in 2018

Also LYIT has extended the deadline and is still accepting late applications for their Postgraduate and Part-time courses up until 14 September. For further information check out www.lyit.ie
