St Johnston man Ronan Curtis has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for their friendly against Poland on Tuesday night.

The former Derry City winger has been in scintillating form since joining Portsmouth in the summer, scoring five times in six games for the League One club.

The 22-year-old scored the Republic of Ireland Under-21s equaliser at the weekend against Kosovo in a 1-1 scoreline.

The U21 squad will now face Germany, but with Curtis suspended for that fixture Martin O’Neill has taken the opportunity to grant the forward his first senior call-up.
