Hundreds of people turned out today to say an emotional farewell to Francie Browne.

The well-known 55-year-old died following injuries he sustained in a traffic incident close to his home last Thursday evening.

The much-loved husband and father passed away the following day at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Francis was led to his final resting place in a stunning horse-drawn carriage earlier today.

Francis, from Listillion, loved horses and this was reflected in the manner in which he was brought to St. Patrick’s Church in Drumkeen.

The high esteem in which Francie was held in the local community and across Donegal was reflected in the huge numbers of people who attended his wake in recent days.

Mr Browne was later laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

A man has appeared in court in connection with the incident which led to the death of Mr Browne and will appear at a future court sitting.

Editor’s note: The family of the late Mr Browne have given permission for photos to be taken at his funeral.

May he rest in peace.
