Rachael Darragh starts in the Yonex Belgian International this afternoon after two fine wins took her through the qualifying rounds.

The Raphoe woman defeated Emily Beach from England 21-13 21-15 ad Sonia Goncalves from Portugal 21-13 21-14 to make it into the main field.

This afternoon, Darragh – who this year competed at the Commonwealth Games in Australia – goes up against Belgium’s Lianne Tan.

Darragh and Paul Reynolds lost out to Patrick Scheiel and Franziska Volkmann from Germany in the mixed doubles this morning. It was a superb game that went all the way, but Darragh and Reynolds were beaten after a stirring fight, 21-13 15-21 21-16.

Joshua Magee also put in two good wins in his qualification matches but lost out in his third match against Ondrej Kral of Czech Republic 21-17 21-10.

Earlier, Magee defeated Ragnarr Sepp of Finland and Adrian Slegers of Belgium.
