Donegal will have four boxers on the card tonight at the Ulster Senior Open and Novice Championships in the Dockworkers Club in Belfast.

Reigning Ulster champion Cathal Brown from Illies Golden Gloves is joined on the bill by Dennis Lafferty of Raphoe, Sean Devine from Letterkenny and Illies’ Michael McConigley.

Last night, super-heavyweight McConigley defeated Belfast’s David Ferrin 5-0 in his semi-final. Letterkenny native McConigley took the unanimous decision from the ringside judges and moves into tonight’s final.

At middleweight, there was defeat for both Paul Darby (Raphoe) and Oran Shiels (Illies). Both lost on unanimous decisions with Darby falling to Gallbally’s Tom Kearney and Dockers’ Noel Donnelly seeing off Shiels.

Dunree welterweight Charlie Duffy was beaten by Carrickmore’s Shane Murphy in his semi-final.

Devine made light of Danny O’Sullivan from Randalstown in the Novice welterweight semi-final.

McConigley joins Lafferty and Devine in action tonight.

Lafferty takes on Rory Lavery of Holy Family following their respective wins in semi-finals on Tuesday night. Both men edged 3-2 decisions with Lafferty defeating Derek Kerr from Monkstown.

Brown faces Thomas Maughan from Cavan. Last year, Brown was the champion at light-heavy when he overcame Donnelly in impressive style in the final.
