Rachael Darragh and Joshua Magee both bowed out of the Yonex Belgian International yesterday in Leuven.

Darragh was beaten by Belgium’s Lianne Tan in the women’s singles 21-15 21-8.

The Raphoe woman had won her way through the qualifying rounds. Wins over England’s Emily Beach and Portugal’s Sonia Goncalves put Darragh into the main field, but she was edged by Tan in yesterday’s opener.

Darragh and Paul Reynolds put up a good fight in their mixed doubles opener, but lost to German’s Patrick Scheiel and Franziska Volkmann 21-13 15-21 21-16.

Joshua Magee had lost out to Czech Reupublic’s Ondrej Kral in qualifying for the men’s singles. In the men’s doubles Magee and Reynolds yesterday went down 21-7 21-14 to Scottish second seeds Alexander Dunn and Adam Hall.
