Avonmore soups are being recalled due to the possible presence of pieces of blue plastic, The Food Safety Authority of Ireland revealed.

The FSAI is urging anyone who may have bought the affected products to return them to the store where they were purchased.

Dunnes Stores and Tesco outlets have put up in-store notices to inform customers about the recall, according to the Authority.

Low-fat vegetable soups, fresh button mushroom soups and fresh tomato and basil soups with specific best before dates are all included in the recall.

The FSAI say the following soups with the best before dates specified are being recalled:

A message on the Food Safety of Ireland’s website reads: “All batches of the above-listed products manufactured by Baby Pure Water Ltd operating at Ardbraccan, Navan, Co. Meath are subject to recall due to insufficient controls at the production site.

“A Closure Order, under S.I. No. 117/2010 EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulation 2010, was served by the Health Service Executive (HSE) on the food business operator of the Ardbraccan Navan Co. Meath site, for non-compliances with food legislation.
