Listen: ‘Mixed feelings’ for Ollie Horgan as title slips away, but second spot sealed

Ollie Horgan admits that he had ‘mixed feelings’ after last night’s one-all draw at UCD.

Conor Davis’ 82nd minute equaliser, barely two minutes after Keith Cowan gave Harps the lead, was enough to secure the First Division title – and automatic promotion – for UCD.

Harps had hoped to take the title race to next weekend, the final regulation game of the season, but the away point was enough for them to seal second spot – and a place in the play-off semi-final.

“I have mixed feelings,” Horgan said.

“A draw at UCD any time of year is a UCD. I don’t think we lost the League or UCD won the League last night. We played UCD three times and got only one point. We dealt with UCD quite well for once and we still didn’t beat them./

“We’d loved to have taken it to next week.

“It might have only delayed the inevitable by a week. We’ll take second place with open arms.’
