A night of high winds and heavy rain is in store this Monday as the tail end of Hurricane Helene hits Irish coasts.
Storm Helene is expected to make landfall on Monday night and move quickly over Ireland.
Flood warnings have been issued for Co Galway and Co Mayo from midday, with 25 to 40 mm of rainfall expected in the western counties.
Persistent rain will lash in Donegal today before a blustery afternoon. Temperatures will be humid, from 17C to 20C. The south and eastern counties of Ireland are expected to bear the brunt of Helene.
Tuesday will have a mix of dry and wet weather. Helene is one of several major storms in the Atlantic this week. A series of unsettled weather systems are set to follow the storm.
Storm Ali is raising bigger concerns for later in the week. Current predictions say that the storm could bring strong wind gusts to the West on Wednesday.
