Finn Valley AC’s 48th annual general meeting reported a very busy schedule through 12 months and highlighted the many challenges going forward in addition to dwelling on the positives from the past year.

Patsy McGonagle was again confirmed in the chair for a further period while secretary is Noreen Bonner once again and the joint treasurers Neil Martin and Bridgeen Doherty remain in situ.

Competition secretaries Mark Connolly and Dermot McGranaghan gave detailed reports on their specific areas.

The incoming registrar is Ann Slevin while Garvin Boyce has been tasked with the records remit and requested to begin an indoor listing.

An expression of thanks was indicated to all the coaches and support staff without whom any club would struggle.

The link with the schools was discussed and that relationship has improved year on year as the club roll out their programme.

Two new club records were noted, namely Sinead McConnell in the 5k track walk and Sommer Lecky in the high jump.

The performances of Sommer and the recent success in Malaga was applauded.

A committee was then elected and the upcoming cross country schools and Champions Cup were on the agenda going forward.

Finally a vote of sympathy was returned to committee members Ann Slevin and Paul Doherty on recent family bereavement.
