Preview: Milford look to put real marker down against Kildrum Tigers

Defending champions Kildrum Tigers will travel to Milford on Sunday in the stand out fixture in the Premier Divison.

Both teams have been tipped to challenge this season and Milford assistant Peter Doherty is expecting a close affair tomorrow afternoon.

“It is a tough enough game like, it is hard to judge, we haven’t had our full squad out yet and we probably won’t turn it out tomorrow either,” Doherty said.

“Kildrum (Tigers) are obviously the defending champions, they beat us twice last year so it is going to be a tough task.”

Confidence is sky high in the Milford camp after coming off the back of an impressive 3-0 victory against their neighbours and rivals Rathmullan.

“Yes, confidence is high, we have a good squad, we are training well and the squad is in good spirits, it should be interesting tomorrow.”

Doherty was coy when asked about Milford title credentials this season, insisting they are taking it game by game.

“Well, we haven’t set any markers down, we definitely have a good squad together,” he said.

“We wanted to progress from last year and that means getting points on the board tomorrow and hopefully we can pick up maximum points.

“We need to be getting as many points as possible at home and once we get to that 25 point mark we will reassess and see if we can make a push for the title.”
