Donegal GAA expresses gratitude for ‘unexpected windfall’ from JP McManus

Donegal GAA has expressed its thanks to Limerick multi-millionaire JP McManus, who has donated €100,000 to each county board.

The Limerick man has given €3.2m to counties for distribution among their clubs.

It means that each of Donegal’s 40 GAA clubs will receive a €2,500 windfall.

McManus sent a letter to each county board outlining that the money is for the development of GAA across the country.

“On behalf of its 40 constituent clubs, CLG Dhún na nGall wishes to record its thanks to JP McManus for his generous donation of €100,000 towards the development of Gaelic games in Donegal,” a statement from Donegal GAA said.

“At a time when clubs work so hard to fundraise, the €2,500 that each Donegal club will receive is very welcome and represents an unexpected windfall that they can invest in their activities.

“We thank Mr McManus and his family for his donation, and we wish him and all associated with Limerick hurling all the best for 2019 and beyond.”
