The Republic of Ireland captain Seamus Coleman was one of many players, coaches and fans spectating FIFA The Best Awards in London and was many of the players that voted for there player of the year.

Last night was a amazing night with Luka Modric winning the FIFA men’s player of the year award. It was the first time in 10 years the trophy wasn’t won by either Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

Modric beat Mohamed Salah, who won the Pukas award for the goal of the year with his effort against Everton last season  and last years winner Cristiano Ronaldo, this let to Messi not nominated since 2007 and like last month in Monaco, Ronaldo failed to turn up last night, as his agent made it pretty clear that he was ‘snubbing’ the event at not winning the final prize.

But despite not turning up Seamus Coleman had Ronaldo in at his number 2 and Messi, who also didn’t make an appearance in London had his number 3 and finally Seamus had the eventual winner Real Madrid’s Luka Modric at his number 1.
