Donegal TD Pearse Doherty has released an in-depth online interview in which he sets out his vision for the Irish Economy.

In the 20-minute film, cameras follow the Sinn Féin spokesperson for Finance and Deputy Leader in the Dáil as he talks about his upbringing, his home life, political life and how he came to have his economic views.

The piece also gives an insight into Teachta Doherty’s family life at home with his wife Roisin and their four sons.

The video comes before the launch of Sinn Féin’s Alternative Budget for 2019.

Deputy Doherty said: “While we greatly look forward to launching our fully costed Alternative Budget next week, we believe there is an urgent need to have a bigger discussion about the type of economy we want on this island.

“Sinn Féin intend to lead that discussion.

“We believe that a new economy is needed that reflects our values – our vision of how people should be treated. A new economy with strong public services and shared prosperity where no one is left behind and no child goes without.”
