Dungloe secured their status in Senior football for next season as they saw off Burt’s challenge at O’Donnell Park.

Dungloe 1-12 Burt 0-8

Burt had an early four-point lead midway through the first half with points through Christopher McDermott, Steven Gillespie, Daire Grant and Tom Doherty.

Dungloe’s got on the scoreboard early through a Danny Rodgers free. Adan Neely added to Dungloe’s scores after 26 minutes – another accurately placed free-kick. They finished strong before the interval, points coming from Conor Greene and Rodgers.

Dungloe started the second half as they finished the first and they levelled the scoring with points from Conor Greene, Adam Neely & Shaun Sharkey four minutes after the restart.

An Adam Neely free and Sharkey point had Dungloe in front after 42 minutes.

The West Donegal side had a chance in front of goal twice but they saw them go narrowly wide, while at the other end Danny Rodgers denied McDermott his own chance in front of goal.

Dungloe pushed on with a point from Shaun Sharkey but Burt wasn’t for giving up & two points from Daire Grant & Tommy Doherty had the margin reduced to one point with only five minutes left.

It was to be Dungloe’s day as points from Adam Neely, Shaun Sharkey & a goal from Neely ensured their place in Senior Championship next year.

Burt will now play Milford in the relegation play-off next weekend to see who drops out to intermediate football.
