Iseult Ni Mhathuna was the hero of the day for Mulroy Academy in Saturday’s Paddy McBride Under-14 Shield final.

Mulroy Academy 1 Illistrin 0

Ni Mhathuna netted after 20 minutes, finding a hole in a packed defence.,

It proved to be the only goal of the game as Mulroy held out for a slender win.

Ten minutes later, with Illistrin pressing for a quick response, Jodie McFadden, hit the Mulroy crossbar.

Mulroy’s defence was resilient in the second period as Illistrin came out in attacking mode.

Nicole McDaid had two chance just after the break with Aoife Sweeney getting across to make a block on the first and her other shot just wide of post.

Erika Gallagher’s shot was cleared of the line with ten minutes remaining by Caitlin Hereghty.

The last chance of game fell to Ni Mhathuna with Aoibhinn Randles making a great save.
