Raphoe stage stirring comeback to win Terry Leyden U14 Cup

Raphoe Town lifted the Terry Leyden U14 Cup after defeating Lagan Harps 3-2 in a nail-biting game held in Drumkeen.

Lagan dominated the first half with Erin Doherty and Lucy Canning pulling the strings in midfield and Emma Gribben making advancing runs from right back. 

Harriett McCrossan opened the scoring after 16 minutes, with a long range shot from the right. 

Shortly after Codie Walsh was in for Raphoe Town but Aoife Sweeney was out quick to pick up the ball. 

Niamh Sweeney for Lagan found Orlaith Doherty who shot just wide of post. Codie Walsh was through again but Serena McCrossan got across to block. 

Molly was quick off her line to prevent Orlaith Doherty from extending the lead after a good through ball by Niamh Sweeney. 

Lagan Harps

Lagan went in 1-0 at half time. 

Minutes after the restart Harriett McCrossan playing in Orlaith Doherty, with Molly making a great save but Orlaith converted the rebound. 

This was the time when the game changed, Raphoe upped their game, and showed great bite and determination to get back in the game. 

After a long ball by Rocha McCullagh, Rebecca McCloghan finished well. Two minutes later Codie Walsh equalised for Raphoe. 

With 10 minutes to go Codie Walsh squared the ball to Cora McBride who shot into bottom corner to put Raphoe ahead. 

Lagan rallied for last few minutes but as time ran out Raphoe retained their composure with Shania McGonagle controlling things at back for Raphoe
