Finn Harps U15 will travel to Dublin in search of tough three points

The Finn Harps U15 must travel to Dublin tomorrow looking for a win against Shamrock Rovers in the final game of the national play-off series.

The game has a 5.00pm start at the Roadstone Academy Grounds and Harps need the three points in order to qualify for the last four of the competition which is going to be a very tall order.

Along with Bohemians/St. Kevin’s Boys, the Hoops are another highly-fancied side. There was no joy on Saturday for Kevin McHugh under-15’s who lost 3-1 to Bohs at the Curragh in Killygordon.

A win there would have secured his side a place in the semi-finals.

Bohs were 1-0 up at the break in Killygordon but Corey Brolly gave the hosts a lifeline. However, the visitors showed their quality by regaining the lead before adding a third goal for a very good away victory.

Harps have already drawn with Shamrock Rovers in Killygordon last month and since that result secured back-to-back wins over Limerick home and away before losing to an impressive Bohs/SKB outfit last Saturday. McHugh says it was a game where his players just didn’t play well enough on the day.

“Last week we didn’t do ourselves justice. Bohs/SKB created more than us on the day and deserved to win, but our boys worked very hard without playing well.

“It’s great that this group of boys are going into the last game with a chance of qualifying for the national semi-finals, but it is an away game to one of the best sides in the country. Still it’s a challenge that this group of players will embrace

“Regardless of the result, the coaches and myself are delighted with the progress of the group overall and these challenges will stand them in good stead going forward,” McHugh said.

Kick-off tomorrow is 5.00 at the Roadstone Academy Grounds.
