Peter Boyle was just pleased to see Aodh Ruadh get over the line against never-say-die Naomh Columba.

Glen staged a stirring comeback but Aodh Ruadh came out on top 4-5 to 1-12.

“We’ve fallen at this stage many times in the last few years,” goalkeeper Boyle said.

“For us, it was about getting over the line. That was the important thing.”

Shane McGrath’s 2-1 had helped the Ernesiders into a commanding eight-point lead at the outset of the fourth quarter.

And yet, Naomh Columba hit back.

Boyle said: “They never gave up. When they got contact on us, we turned over the ball. They never put the heads down. They kept playing their game plan and it nearly paid off for them.”
