Bonagee United progress to next round of the SFAI Under-15 Sketchers Cup with a good victory away to Cavan Shamrocks yesterday.

Cavan Shamrocks 0 Bonagee United 3

Both teams started a little nervous but Bonagee soon got to grips with the astro pitch and create ample chance with some fine one touch passing and should have took lead in the 10th minute. Zak Breen played Ciaran Dalton through only for Cavan keeper to make the save.

Two minutes later Josh Doherty found Dalton who hit a lovely cross which was turned in by Danny Hall only to have it ruled out for a tight offside call.

Bonagee had a few more half chances with Cavan going the long ball route. Fintan Doherty had to brave on 20 minutes as a long kick from the Cavan keeper found its way over the Bonagee rearguard and Doherty did well to deny the striker.

Three minutes later Ryan Creevy picked ball up wide and pinged a lovely left foot cross field pass to the feet off the attacking Adam Carr who beat the right back with easy and deliver a sweet cross for Josh Doherty to tap in at back post and give Bonagee the lead.

Bonagee tails were now up squeezed the home team and Eoghan Quinn struck the ball from the outside right of the box first time and his shot flew into the top of the net.

Dalton and Carr had chances to extend the advantage.

The move of the match came with the last action of the first half with a series off one touch passes from back to front. It ended up with Josh Doherty firing in across and Danny Hall firing over the bar.

Dan Dalton, Lorcan Harvey, Quinn and Creevy kept Cavan at bay.

Ay chance of a comeback was ended when another nice piece of Bonagee play found its way to Sean Gallagher in the box.

Gallagher was fouled and Creevy stepped up to fire home from the penalty.

Ben Cassidy, Adam Carr, Gavin McCarron and Ciaran Dalton all worked the keeper late on, but Bonagee had already the work done.
