Revealed: The Donegal finalists in the Irish Food Awards

Food Awards Ireland have today announced the full finalist list of this year’s awards, celebrating the hard-working teams behind the Irish food industry. 

Many of Donegal’s best restaurants, servers, suppliers and chefs have made it onto the list and are in the running for the national awards.

Nominations flooded in for the third annual Food Awards, with more than 20 venues and people from Donegal featuring on the final list.

Which Donegal eateries are among the crème de la crème of Ireland’s best? Here are the local finalists:

Restaurant of the Year: (Borders)

Kitty Kelly’s  
Blas  
Chandpur Indian Restaurant  
The Harbour Restaurant  
Kennedy’s  
La Bella Donna Restaurant  

Café/Bistro of the Year (Borders):

Glenveagh Castle Tearooms
Coffee Time (Kilmacrennan)
Nancy’s Barn (Ballyliffin)
Wholegreen Health food (Letterkenny)
Lily’s Bistro (Letterkenny )
Honeypot Coffee House (Letterkenny)

Gastro Pub of the Year (Borders):

The Drift Inn  
The House Gastro Pub  
McGettigan’s Pub

Caterer of the Year (Borders):

Macs Deli Outside Catering  
Yes Chef Catering  

Best Mexican Establishment: La Fiesta  

Best Indian Establishment: Chandpur Indian Restaurant  

Takeaway of the Year: Burrito Loco

Chef of the Year:

Remy Dupuy at Kitty Kelly’s  
Antoine Minelli at Blas  

Restaurant General Manager of the Year: Susan Miah at Chandpur Indian Restaurant  

Best Pizza Establishment: The Rusty Oven – Dunfanaghy

The Food Awards black-tie event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin, on Monday 12th November, when the best of the Irish Food industry will gather for a memorable night to celebrate the efforts, hard work and achievements of professionals and businesses that operate in this sector

The awards will thank those who are committed to always providing the Irish communities and homes with the freshest of products and tastes. They will also reward meritorious restaurants, takeaways, pubs, hotel restaurants, cafes and bistros, as well as those who help people to explore new flavours and cuisines from different cultures.
