Irish seafood business Donegal Catch is reported to be at the centre of sales talks with the former chief executive of snack company Largo Foods, Maurice Hickey.

Donegal Catch is part of the Galway-based Green Isle business and part of the remaining assets of the 2 Sisters Food Group which were not sold at the beginning of the year.

The frozen fish company has been valued at £50million.

The Irish Independent reports that Hickey, who was the former CEO of Largo Foods, which makes Tayto crisps, is in exclusive talks to buy the remaining Green Isle businesses.

The companies, which include Donegal Catch, Green Isle frozen-food, a manufacturing site, and the Green Isle brand itself, employ about 300 people.

2 Sisters sold Green Isle’s Goodfella’s and San Marco pizza to Nomad Foods for  €225m in January 2018. It was reported at the time that Nomad was prevented from buying Donegal Catch due to competition issues.
