A Donegal businesswoman who passed away in Spain is being laid to rest in Newtownstewart today (Tuesday).
Freda Wilson died on October 2nd after taking a sudden illness while on holiday in Malaga.
Mrs Winifred Kathleen (Freda) Wilson, who is originally from Ballybofey, lived in Newtownstewart and was a Director of building and engineering contractor GF Wilson Ltd.
She was a former teacher before she married her husband Bryan in 1972 and moved to Co. Tyrone to work in the family business.
The Belfast Telegraph reports that Mrs Wilson was on holiday to celebrate her 70th birthday with her husband when she suffered a bleed in the brain on September 15th.
The loving mother-of-three and grandmother was hospitalised in Malaga and passed away two weeks later with family by her bedside. She was flown home to Northern Ireland on Sunday night.
Funeral service is taking place today (Tuesday October 9th) at Ardstraw Parish Church, Newtownstewart. Service at 2.00pm, followed by interment in Ardstraw New Cemetery.
Mrs Wilson’s husband Bryan said: “She was my soulmate for a lifetime and was very interested in the church.
“My son has two small children and she was always with them.
“She was an exceptional gardener. Every time you were looking for her you’d find her stuck in the garden somewhere,” he said.
