Eoin Grady, a 15 year old racing driver from Woodlands in Letterkenny has won the 2018 Ulster Karting Championship.
Eoin, a third year student in Loreto Community School, Milford, raced in the Rotax Junior-Max class – for 125cc 2-stroke racing engines producing around 23 horsepower.
The final round of the 6-round Ulster Kart Club (UKC) Championship was held on Saturday at Nutts Corner Circuit, Antrim.
The UKC Championship runs from March to October, and is officially licensed by the Motor Sports Association (MSA), attracting the highest level competitors.
Eoin drove some fantastic races throughout the year, with many wins and podiums.
Some bad luck also saw a photographer step in front of him, and the resulting avoiding action damaged the kart putting an end to that day’s racing.
At another event, a late entry meant starting every heat from the back of the grid, but a combination of skill and determination saw Eoin produce some incredible overtaking, and he eventually won that event too.
The championship was within reach, and Eoin was determined to win it, which he did in great style from Pole position.
