Homes and businesses in North and South Donegal are without electricity supply today (Friday) as Storm Callum tracks past the northwest.

Power cuts are reported areas near Malin Beg and Muff. Up to 35 homes are affected by the outage.

Up to 10,000 homes, farms and businesses without power nationwide this afternoon.

The damage is mainly attributable to fallen trees on overhead lines as a result of the high winds associated with the arrival of the Storm Callum overnight.

ESB crews are working on the outages in Donegal and expect to have supply restored by 6pm this evening.

A peak of approximately 60,000 homes were without electricity during the night.  There are 300 individual locations where Storm Callum has damaged ESB networks. Counties most impacted include Kerry, Cork, Kilkenny, Limerick, Mayo and Monaghan.

A Status Orange wind warning remains in place for Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo until 4pm on Friday.
