Donegal’s new Education Minister has great opportunity for county – Cope

Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher has extended his personal congratulations to Minister Joe Mc Hugh on his promotion to the Department of Education and Skills.

He said he also wished to extend his best wishes to his wife and family on this great honour of Joe being appointed Cabinet Minister.

He said “It is a great family occasion as well as being a political promotion.”

He added that the appointment as Minister for Education offers great potential for the county and constituency, as a great deal of work is urgently required across the education sector within the county at present.

“Having a Donegal voice at the head of the Department certainly will aid and assist the Donegal projects and issues which currently remain unresolved.

“Whilst appreciating that Minister Mc Hugh will have a national remit, and a responsibility to the entire country it will be incumbent on us the other elected representatives from Donegal to put forward the many Donegal cases and issues which require the attention of the Department and the Minister.

“This we can do effectively for the greater good of the county working together as a team united in the cause of putting Donegal first.

“We wish him the very best as he sets out in his new Ministry and we look forward to a good working relationship with him based on the respect of each other’s mandate but moreover based on the greatest common denominator which unites us all as Donegal politicians – “to continue to serve the people of Donegal for the greater good of all.”
