Homes and businesses in parts of East Donegal are without water this afternoon following a major water mains burst.

The water outage is affecting Ballybofey, Killygordon, Drumkeen, Castlefin and surrounding areas.

Irish Water has confirmed that staff are working on the issue and the estimated time for service to be renewed is 10pm tonight (Monday).

A traffic management plan will be in operation for the duration of works.
People in the affected area are being advised that it may take 2-3 hours after 10pm for their water supply to fully return.
