Killybegs get the better of Aodh Ruadh thanks to late goals

Killybegs set up an U21 semi-final clash with St Eunan’s as late goals by Ryan Cunningham and Conor Cunningham edged out Aodh Ruadh.

Killybegs 3-7 Aodh Ruadh 0-10

In a hard-fought game at Eamonn Byrne Memorial Park, the goals made all the difference.

Killybegs’ opening goal came via Carl Gallagher in the first minute of the game.

Michael Gallagher, with three, and Ryan Cunningham were on the mark as Killybegs led 1-6 to 0-2 at half-time.

Aodh Ruadh rallied in the second half and Killybegs needed the goals to get past the Ballyshannon men.

Ryan Cunningham converted a penalty and Conor Cunningham sealed it when he netted soon after.

Scorers – Killybegs: Ryan Cunningham 1-3, Michael Gallagher 0-4, Carl Gallagher, Conor Cunningham 1-0 each.

Aodh Ruadh: Philip Patton 0-6f, Nathan Boyle 0-2, Oisin Rooney, Shane McGrath 0-1 each
