Donegal goalkeeper bidding for Dublin SFC glory this evening

Convoy man Liam Mailey is bidding to win the Dublin SFC this evening when he lines out for underdogs St Jude’s in their final against favourites Kilmacud Crokes.

St Jude’s have never won a Dublin title, but the Templeogue club, beaten finalists in 2009, are back in the decider again looking to rewrite a new chapter in history.

Two years ago, St Jude’s overcame Kilmacud in the Championship and Jude’s have claimed the scalps of Ballymun Kickhams and St Vincent’s in their last two games.

They defeated Ballymun 2-9 to 1-11 in the quarter-final before seeing off Vincent’s – who were chasing a three-in-a-row – 2-11 to 0-8 in the semi-final.

Mailey had a spell on the books at Finn Harps and trained with the Donegal senior football panel this year, acting as the county’s third choice goalkeeper for the summer months.

With Dublin ace Kevin McManamon in tow, St Jude’s and Mailey will aim to reach for new heights this afternoon.
