A Letterkenny woman was last night named as Toronto GAA Person of the Year at the annual Toronto GAA banquet.
Dani McFadden collected the prestigious award at a ceremony held in the King’s Garden Banquet Hall.
McFadden has been a key figure in the Brampton Roger Casements club since first joining them in 2012.
Previously, she was a Toronto All-Star in 2014 and Toronto Junior Player of the Year.
In 2017, McFadden captained Roger Casements to victory over St Patrick’s in the Shield final – sealing a first ever piece of silverware in ladies football for the club.
McFadden is the club chairperson and will assume the role again for the next year.
She is heavily involved in tasks like player recruitment, organising training locations, arranging trips to competitions and ordering gear and kit for the club.
Having worked as a manager in a Canadian Tire department store for five years, she is now a nanny and runs a part-time home daycare.
It is eight years since she moved to Toronto in 2010 and she was first recruited to Roger Casements in 2012 by her twin sister, Natalie, who is now back in Donegal and playing and coaching at Bonagee United.
