Cappry Rovers advanced to the national stages of the FAI Junior Cup when they defeated Kildrum Tigers in an entertaining game in Cappry Park.

Kildrum started the stronger with Kevin McHugh always a threat.

Cappry were a threat when they broke forward and forced a few good saves from the visitors’ keeper .

Neither team could manage to break the deadlock.

In the second half play swung from end to end with both teams creating chances but no goals.

The breakthrough arrived in the 59th minute when young Jamie Murray won the ball and he beat the defence before his shot from 12 yards beat the Kildrum keeper to give Cappry the lead.

Cappry had another chance after that but Cathal McShane’s shot was saved by the ‘keeper.

Kildrum got back on level terms in the 71st minute when William Lynch scored to the bottom corner of the net.

With time running out and extra time looming Cappry got the winner in the 89th  minute when Tyrone GAA ace McShane won the ball beat the advancing keeper to put the ball in the bottom corner of the net.

Kildrum had a chance to equalise in injury time following a free kick but the Cappry defence held firm.

Team performance from Cappry. Gareth Colhoun was best for Kildrum.

Referee: Joe Mc Hugh.
