The Donegal Mountain Rescue Team was dispatched to two missions on Muckish Mountain over last weekend.
A group of lost walkers were located on the mountain on Sunday evening using a SARLOC location system. The rescue volunteers tracked the group using their smartphones and guided to safety.
Earlier on Saturday, the team was tasked to assist a tourist after Gardaí received an emergency call. Donegal Mountain Rescue successfully made contact with the lost walker and they made their way off the mountain safely.
The incidents have prompted Gardaí to issue a safety reminder to hikers in Donegal.
A spokesperson said: “Make sure that you are fit enough for the challenge ahead. Always inform someone of where you are going exactly and how long you are expected to be gone for so if anything does happen the Emergency Services can get to you ASAP.”
