Listen: Frank McGlynn on ‘underdogs’ Glenfin heading into U21 final

Frank McGlynn and Glenfin will be quite content to enter the weekend’s U21 Championship final as the big underdogs.

After a dramatic win over Naomh Conaill in Sunday’s semi-final, when Karl McGlynn’s late goal earned them a 3-4 to 1-9 win, Glenfin will face red hot favourites St Eunan’s in the final.

Glenfin have already accounted for Gaoth Dobhair, Sean MacCumhaills and, now, Naomh Conaill.

“Every game we went into, the opposition were fancied to beat us,” McGlynn, who is Glenfin’s assistant manager, said.

“It’s a great way to go in. We’ll be underdogs and St Eunan’s have a wealth of talent. It’s one the young fellas will look forward to.”

Matthew McGinley and Conor McBride were also on the mark with goals as Glenfin caused an upset with Karl McGlynn’s goal sealing the win late in the game.

2012 All-Star Frank McGlynn said: “It would be too simple to do it the easy way. Things did go for us. The young lads stuck at us and we got the rub of the green. They put in a performance and got the win.”
