Red Hughs get McMenamin boost ahead of Ulster final

Red Hughs have been handed a boost ahead of their Ulster Junior final with the news that Stephen McMenamin has been withdrawn from his college’s squad this week.

Seosamh Mac Ceallabhuí, the Red Hughs manager, had expressed his concern that the Donegal player was going to be ‘forced’ into playing with DIT in a Division 1 League relegation play-off on Thursday evening.

That game is pencilled in just 48 hours before Red Hughs meet Limavady in Saturday evening’s Ulster Club JFC final at Celtic Park.

Red Hughs’ biggest hour yet will see them joust with the Derry kingpins having already put Con Magees and Emyvale to the sword.

Red Hughs are also hoping to get defender Gary Kelly a reprieve from a suspension after his sending off in the semi-final.

Red Hughs have lodged an appeal and have a hearing in Armagh before the Ulster Council’s Hearings Committee on Thursday night.
