The Christmas Season is fast approaching and what better way to get into the Christmas spirit than by gathering together for the Letterkenny Christmas Lights Switch On this November 23rd.

This memorable annual event will take place on Letterkenny’s Main Street, where entertainment will kick off from 5.30pm with music on the square by our MC Keith Fletcher.

Surrounding businesses will be serving festive hot beverages, treats and hot snacks throughout the event. Every year, hundreds of adults, children and their families gather on the Main Street, full of festive joy and excitement.

Singer David James will be performing his debut single at the band stand and there will also be a performance by Jessica McKean, a young singer who took part in the RTEjr talent show ‘Two Talented’.

This year, the Main Street clothing store County Seat will be hosting a Live Christmas Window Display which will take place at various times throughout the evening.

There will also be a dance performance by the Pinehill Studio Dancers.

The Christmas lights will be switched on at 6.50pm by the winner of the ShopLK Christmas Art Competition and the Letterkenny Municipal District Mayor Cllr Ian McGarvey. This year the lucky winner will have their art work printed on Christmas ShopLK Gift Card Wallets.

Santa will arrive on his sleigh and make his way down the Main Street lead by the Letterkenny Senior Accordion Band. There will be treats for all, so come along to the Main Street on November 23rd and celebrate the start of the Christmas season with us.

The President of Letterkenny Chamber, Leonard Watson, said, “The Christmas Lights Switch On is one of the most popular events on our annual calendar. It’s great to see all the local businesses and the community come together to celebrate the Christmas season.

“Our annual Christmas art competition makes this event even more exciting for the children of our local schools and it’s great to see all the effort that goes into the art works. The switch on is very popular with Letterkenny residents but we can also expect to see visitors from further afield come into town to join us for the festive fun”.
