Staff and students at Coláiste Ailigh Letterkenny are sharing fond memories of the ‘Doras Dearg‘ today as they mark five years in their new school.

The Irish language secondary school was moved from Sprackburn House on the High Road to their new home in Cnoc me Móna on 14th November 2013.

On that day, the school community said goodbye to their unique former school to walk a mile up the High Road to an exciting new building.

The new state of the art Donegal ETB school has since won a number of architecture awards.

Coláiste Ailigh was built by BAM Ireland and designed by McGarry Ní Éanaigh Architects under the Schools Bundle III PPP Scheme.

Príomhoide, Micheál Ó Giobúin said: “It seems like only yesterday that we closed the big red door and walked together to our new school.”

“There have been lots of changes, but our spirit remains steadfast. The current 6th year group are the last to remember our old building, so this is quite a poignant moment for us. The staff came together to celebrate at break-time today and we look forward to seeing how much we grow in the next five years.”
