Healthcare worker caught drink-driving on three occasions

November 19, 2018

A healthcare worker who was caught drink-driving on three occasions got into trouble after the death of her mother and the break-up of a relationship.

Debbie Keyes, aged 26, appeared before Letterkenny District Court charged with the offences.

Ms Keys, of Foxhills, Letterkenny was stopped by Gardai driving on November 10th, 2017, April 22nd, 2018 and October 11th, 2018.

Solicitor for Ms Keyes, Mr Frank Dorrian said there had been no pattern or warning to the accused woman’s drinking.

He said the death of her mother, as well as the break-up of a relationship, had had a major impact on her life.

However, she was now alcohol-free and was attending AA meetings and seeing a counsellor.

Judge Paul Kelly said that because there were three different drink-driving charges in a relatively short space of time, he would like to get a probation report and adjourned the case until January 21st next.
