Red Hughs forward Shane Gallagher spent Saturday night in hospital after suffering a bad knock in the second half of the Ulster JFC final – but his team-mates made sure he got his hands on the cup!

Red Hughs had a dramatic 1-11 to 1-9 win over Limavady to take the prize.

Johnny Carlin replaced Gallagher in the 38th minute and he proved the Red Hughs hero, scoring 1-2.

Gallagher remained at Celtic Park for the presentation but subsequently spent the night at Altnagelvin Area Hospital with concussion before being released. The player also sustained a broken jaw.

“The club would like to wish Shane Gallagher a speedy recovery,” Red Hughs said.

“Shane got a bad knock in the final. But typical Shane stayed til he got up the steps with his teammates before getting treatment. Get well soon Shane. #warrior”
