A new defibrillator has been launched today at Donegal Oil Company on the Port Road in Letterkenny.

The potentially life-saving cardiac equipment will be available to businesses and people passing by the busy thoroughfare and the LYIT campus.

The defibrillator was funded by an 8-person ladies cycling team who competed in the 2018 Donegal Atlantic Way Ultra.

The Donegal Oil novice team raised €1,280 from their outstanding efforts in the 555K cycle race.

The new defibrillator installation was warmly welcomed at a launch on Friday in the offices of Donegal Oil Company. Members of Team Donegal Oil attended to celebrate their achievement for the community.

While it is often hoped that such equipment will never need to be used, the device is now available to people working on the Port Rd., members of the Emergency Services, students at LYIT, working at LYIT or members of athletic / sports clubs in Letterkenny

The defibrillator is strategically placed in an area where there is a lot of traffic, footfall, businesses and employees located and passing.

Donegal Oil Company are now running an awareness campaign to inform the public of the device’s whereabouts.
