Youths riding motorbike scramblers are tearing up a popular green area in Letterkenny.

Sinn Fein Councillor Gerry Mc Monagle is calling on the youths responsible for tearing up the green area at Ballyboe Park to stop this anti-social practice.

Cllr Mc Monagle said this is a public Park which is there for the enjoyment of the people of the town not a racetrack for scramblers or other similar type vehicles.

Cllr Mc Monagle was speaking after being contacted by members of the public who were annoyed at the damage that was caused and are fearful that this would become a regular occurrence.

He fumed “The council have invested heavily in this area and continue to do so. It’s a great place for a walk and many members of the local community regularly use the Park to walk there dogs.

Cllr Gerry McMonagle

“I would ask those responsible to think about this and the damage they are causing to this local amenity and to their parents I would say please make sure you know what your children are at and ensure that they are not involved in this type of anti-community behaviour.

“I would also urge the public that if they see this behaviour continuing to contact the Gardai.”
