St Eunan’s proved much too strong for Four Masters in the Donegal Minor League Division 1 final in Glenfin.

By Charlie Collins at Pairc Taobhoige

Padraig McGettigan scored 2-5 – including two second-half goals – as Pauric Ryan’s black and amber sealed a League and Championship double for the year, while Oisin McGarvey landed the other St Eunan’s goal.

St Eunan’s might have had a goal in the ninth minute, but after a fine move with Peter McEniff, James Kelly went for the net , but Killian Faulkner, the Four Masters goalkeeper, palmed the ball over the bar.

Eunan’s led 0-3 to 0-2 at that point with Eoin Dowling and McEniff having registered points, but Cian Hegarty’s free – his third of the day – drew Masters level.

St Eunan’s took over and scored 1-8 in succession.

McGettigan (3), Conor O’Donnell (2), Shane O’Donnell, Peter McEniff and Sean Breen landed the points.

The goal came when McGarvey, finally, steered home, after Four Masters somehow kept a succession of St Eunan’s efforts out.

In added time at the end of part one, Masters did get in for a goal as Ronan McHugh fired home, but St Eunan’s led 1-11 to 1-3 at the short whistle.

Masters got a second goal, 14 minutes into the second half, when Oisin Reid fisted home from Matthew McKenna’s long ball in.

Yet, Ronan McGeehin, McGettigan, Shane O’Donnell (2) and Conor O’Donnell had St Eunan’s ten in front at that stage.

McGettigan tucked home a second St Eunan’s goal in the 44th minute and they added a third when McGettigan riffled home two minutes form the end.

It all meant that Reid’s second of the day, and Four Masters’ third, was just a footnote.
