Donegal GAA last night launched a new strategic plan – a document that high-ranking GAA official says is ‘ambitious and achievable’.

The plan was presented to clubs at the June county committee meeting and officially rolled out last night.

The goals of the plan, which are set out for the next three years, come under six headings: Games development and coaching; Club development; Financial management; administration development; infrastructure development; and A voice for youth.

“A strategic plan should be ambitious and achievable,” said Moville’s Anthony Duggan, who was the co-ordinator of the working group that put the plan together.

“They are good, achievable, but very high targets.”

The Treasurer of the Ulster Council, Ciaran McLaughlin from Strabane, oversaw the roll out of strategic plans and represented the GAA President, John Horan, at the launch.

“It’s a huge challenge in one way because there are so many key objectives to be met,” he said.

“I have every confidence knowing the people involved that the plan will be delivered.”

Activity areas – and their goals

1. Games development and coaching – To improve the games development and coaching experience for players and coaches

2. Club development – To improve the club executive capacity to lead and manage their club’s development

3. Financial management – to assist the club executive to efficiently and effectively manage their finances

4. Administration development – to assist the club executive to administer their club effectively

5. Infrastructure development – to develop and deliver club and county infrastructure

6. A voice for youth – To develop and deliver a voice for our youth at club and county level
