A Status Yellow weather warning is in place for Donegal today (Wednesday) as Storm Diana continues to lash down on the country.

Severe winds of 55 to 65 km/h will gust 90 to 110  km/h at the coasts today, while there is a risk of flooding in coastal areas.

Met Eireann’s wind alert is in place nationwide from 5am this Wednesday until 6pm.

The worst of the storm is expected to impact the southern and west coast of Ireland. A Status Orange alert is in place for Cork, Kerry, Wexford, Galway, Clare and Waterford.

Road users are being warned to take extra care due to the high winds.

AA Roadwatch advises: “Watch out for wind-blown debris on the roads and be particularly mindful of pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.”

Heavy rainfall in the north west is forecast to clear to showers by this evening.

Winds will ease overnight and it will become mainly dry for a time apart from the odd shower. Unsettled conditions are forecast again for Thursday, with a possibility of heavy rain, hail and thunder.
